What does exactly it means when we visit a city and say it is beautiful? It’s hard to define beauty. This is a very particular matter that depends a lot on each one’s point of view.
Me, myself, think architecture plays an important role creating the concept of beauty of a city. But what exactly does “architecture” stands for, it’s hard to say. It’s more than just the pattern the buildings follow, the churches style or material that are used. I believe it’s all that plus a combination of small details we sometimes fail to notice. And it’s about these details I want to talk about at the Flâneur series.
The Flâneur is the urban explorer, a person who wander the streets almost aimlessly, just trying to reach the city’s essence. Every once in a while we reach this status when we really enjoy a specific place we travel to.
Lately I started to notice a particular detail: doors. Did you stop to look around how many amazing door are there around you? I’m not sure if I just started paying attention to it now, or if I started visiting places with beautiful doors, but I just spotted the most amazing ones.
The first Flâneur photographic series is about Madrid doors, just another detail that I loved so much in this amazing city! ♡
